Hotels near the airport
If you arrive in Venezuela late - at one of the 10 pm flights - you may want to consider staying overnight before heading out to Isla de Oro the next day.
Here are some of the hotels near the airport.
HOTEL EUROBUILDING EXPRESS
This one is the closest to the airport, less than half a mile from the gate. Rooms are close to $200 per night, with a simple breakfast included. It is popular with airline personnel and extremely convenient but not good value for money.

Urbanización 10 de Marzo,
MaiquetÃa,

HOTEL POSADA DEL HIDALGO
In Macuto, about 15 minutes from the airport going straight East. Taxi-service. The hotel overlooks the Caribbean ocean. It has the look and feel of a family-run Bed & Breakfast (or a small "posada" from Spain). Only a two star hotel, but the rooms are comfortable and not bad at all. Good value for money at $20 to $30 per night.
- Hotel Posada del Hidalgo
Avenida La Playa,
Urba Alamo,
Macuto,
Tel. (0212) 414 8460 / 414 7991
Fax: (0212) 514 7515
HOTEL AEROPUERTO
Located in Catia La Mar, about 5 minutes from the airport going West. It is owned and managed by Tony Merola, who is also a neighbor at Isla de Oro, too (Tony's family owns one of the cabanas). The hotel is at the low-end of the market but will probably do for just a nightly stay, especially if Posada del Hidalgo is full.
- Hotel Aeropuerto
Av. Club Náutico,
Calle # 3,
Urb. La Atlántida,
Catia La Mar

You may also consider staying the night in Caracas.
If you arrive in the evening, when there is little traffic, the trip from the airport to the city should take less than 30 minutes. Note, however, that taxis can easily charge Bs 100,000 or more for the trip ($46 as per the official exchange rate, 2006).
